Tooth veneers are extremely thin and very light shells that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth that have minor cosmetic dental defects. Less-than-perfect teeth become better contoured, straighter and more translucent.
Veneers are made from porcelain or plastic. Dr. Zipfel uses porcelain veneers.
Consider Veneers For:
- Teeth that are badly stained, especially when stained on the inside and thus not changeable by tooth whitening. This can be the result of tetracycline (an anti-biotic), injury, or a root-canal procedure.

How are Veneers Applied?
During your first dental visit, your dentist makes molds of your teeth and sends them to a dental lab technician, who then makes the tooth veneers.
During your second dental visit, your dentist removes a tiny amount of enamel from the surface of each tooth and then bonds the veneers to the teeth.
How are Veneers Different from Bonding?
Veneers usually last longer than bonding and have better color stability. They are also highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, or tobacco.
