Bonding is a process where we apply a tooth-colored plastic resin material to the tooth and then harden it with a special light, thus bonding the resin to the tooth. Bonding allows us to leave most of your natural tooth intact.
Dental Bonding is used to:
- Change the size, shape, or color of a tooth
- Repair a chipped tooth
- Lengthen a tooth, so it will complement the teeth next to it
- Close gaps between teeth
- Re-contour the whole mouth, as an alternative to using crowns
Although bonding materials are generally not as durable as the materials used for veneers or crowns, there is the advantage that, in most cases, the bonding procedure can be completed in one appointment and does not require the services of a separate dental laboratory.
